Reach Out and Read for Providers
Starting a Reach Out and Read Program
Thank you so much for your interest in Reach Out and Read! We are a national, nonprofit organization
that promotes early literacy and school readiness by making books and reading aloud a standard part of
pediatric primary care. We believe that every healthy childhood should include books and reading, and
we believe that pediatric healthcare providers have a unique opportunity to deliver that message to
families. Reach Out and Read's evidence-based model is supported by 14 peer-reviewed, published
research studies.

"Our practice located in a rural area of Virginia serves a diverse demographic population. We do
however have a large number of children who come from families who may not be able to afford books for
their children. It is great to see even the youngest patient's eyes light up when they receive their
"checkup book". This helps us to then discuss the importance of reading and its relationship to
development. Thank you to Reach out and Read for helping us to better serve our patients."

"Thanks to the generosity and support of Reach Out and Read we have wonderful new books to give our young
patients at their routine health checks while at the same time educating their families on the importance of
making reading a fun everyday event. We are sincerely grateful for the support and we hope to continue together
on this quest to make our children's future the brightest possible."
