And the winner is…

Ruby Finds a Worry
2020 Judy Newman Book Award

Reach Out and Read and Scholastic are proud to announce this year’s Judy Newman Book Award will be Ruby Finds a Worry by Tom Percival. The annual award highlights one book that resonates with families and encourages them to read-aloud together. This reassuring story about what to do when a worry won’t leave you alone provides a platform to children on the benefit of expressing emotions.

The award namesake Judy Newman is President and Reader in Chief of Scholastic Book Clubs, a longtime advocate for children’s literature, and a National Board member of Reach Out and Read. The award upholds the belief that finding the right book at the right time can light an emotional spark within a child that motivates him or her to read more, understand more, and read joyfully. When that happens, the world opens. Everything becomes possible.
