Reach Out and Read Wisconsin invited Representative Jessie Rodriguez to Children’s Wisconsin Oak Creek Pediatrics on Friday, Feb. 28 to learn more about the Reach Out and Read program that is in her district.
She received a tour of the clinic, was able to ask questions to both Children’s Wisconsin staff and Reach Out and Read Wisconsin staff and read two books to children in the waiting room.

Children’s Wisconsin Oak Creek Pediatrics was founded in 2023 and has distributed a total of 9,207 books. It sees about 7,000 well-child visits for children birth to five years each year and is one of 20 Reach Out and Read programs within Children’s Wisconsin.

“I was grateful to be allowed to come and learn more about the Reach Out and Read program at the Children’s Wisconsin Oak Creek Pediatrics clinic. I hadn’t really heard enough about it, and what has been impactful for me is knowing that this is a way for providers to connect with families and see where children are in their growth. But not only that, it is another way to improve literacy and build a connection with parents and children. I think that was the most impactful thing that I have learned today.” – Rep. Rodriguez
