Research Interests
- ROR in early infancy
- ROR in the NICU
-
NIH and AHA funded projects studying immune dysfunction due to chorioamnionitis and associated long-term health outcomes.
Past Research
We showed that NICU reading is feasible. The largest effect of the NICU reading program (NICU Bookworms) is seen in caregivers who do not enjoy reading. These caregivers are 5 times more likely to read to their babies at home.
Ongoing Research
We are currently studying how maternal stress and depression affects parental reading behaviors in the NICU
Future Research
RCT on NICU reading and 2 year neurodevelopmental outcomes (IRB submitted)
