ABOUT US: OUR MISSION AND IMPACT

Who we are: Reach Out and Read Ohio is dedicated to improving early childhood development by partnering with local clinicians. We support families by integrating books and literacy guidance into routine well-child visits.

Our goal: Our vision is to reach every child in Ohio, focusing on under-resourced communities, to provide them with the tools and opportunities they need to succeed academically and beyond.

Why Reach Out and Read? Research shows that early literacy and parent-child bonding during the critical years of early development contribute significantly to a child’s long-term success. Our program emphasizes the importance of reading aloud and shares books with children starting at birth, encouraging healthy brain development and preparing them for school.

OUR PROGRAMS: HOW WE HELP

Well-child visits with a purpose: We partner with health care professionals to promote early literacy and strengthen families through bonding through shared reading. During well-child visits, pediatricians offer parents advice on the importance of reading aloud and provide developmentally appropriate books.

Focusing on equity: At Reach Out and Read Ohio, we are deeply committed to equity and inclusion. We work to ensure that all families, especially those in under-resourced communities, have access to our services, regardless of socioeconomic background.

Community engagement: We collaborate with local organizations, schools, and community leaders to extend our reach and connect with families across the region.
