One of our newest publishing partners, Workman Publishing, donated 10,000 GOOD AND CHEAP cookbooks to Reach Out and Read Georgia from author, Leanne Brown.

The cookbook was designed to answer one critical question; How well can a person really eat on a SNAP budget of $4 a day?

The answer she found was “surprising well”— with the right techniques and recipes. She then set out to write a cookbook which now features 152 delicious, easy-to-make recipes that teach that kitchen skill, not budget, are the key to great food. For every copy of the cookbook sold Workman donates a copy.

The Longstreet Clinic with pediatric offices in Gainesville, Braselton and Oakwood received 5,112 copies. A special thanks to Jessica Dudley, President of the United Way of Hall County and her staff for handling all the logistical details involved with receiving a donation of this size – 268 boxes! When gifting the cookbook to parents and a new book to the child pediatricians share that fruits and vegetables fuels the body like words nourish a child’s young developing brain.
