Super Bowl Champion Hosts Virtual Summer Reading Camp

New England Patriots Super Bowl Champion, children’s book author, and youth literacy advocate, Malcolm Mitchell and Reach Out and Read come together to support developing minds across the country and give children of all backgrounds and means a better start to life. A Georgia resident, Mitchell is a strong supporter of Reach Out and Read Georgia and stresses the joy reading brings to families with young children and adolescents.

“Malcolm Mitchell is known as much as a youth literacy advocate in Georgia as he is for being a former University of Georgia wide receiver and Super Bowl Champion for the New England Patriots. He is passionate and committed to connecting with students about the benefits of reading. Reach Out and Read and Malcolm Mitchell mutually support each other’s initiatives to promote literacy and healthy development through the power of reading,” said Executive Director of Reach Out and Read Georgia, Amy Erickson.

“Becoming an avid reader, changed my life,” says Mitchell. As a successful community leader who was shaped by a passion for reading, Mitchell is a credible and dedicated advocate for promoting literacy and an embodiment of the lifelong benefits of reading.

Reach Out and Read is happy to support Mitchell’s efforts as a literary advocate including his virtual #ReadCamp this summer. Parents and caregivers can instill a love of reading in their children and set them up with a foundation for success. From May 25 through September, Mitchell is offering to children in grades K-12 a free virtual Training Camp for summer reading.

This is a chance for children to stay in great reading shape all summer and to tackle the summer learning slide through conditioning, strength, speed, and team reading challenges to maintain and develop literacy skills. For educational resources and exercises for Children 0-5 click here.

“We are going to become the best readers we possibly can be,” says Mitchell!
